Every student admitted to Arulmigu Palaniandavar Arts and Science College for Women is expected to abide by the following rules and regulations framed to ensure discipline, academic integrity, and the overall well-being of the college community. Enrollment in the college implies acceptance of these rules.

Admission & Enrollment

  1. Admission is purely provisional until the original certificates are verified and eligibility is confirmed by the university.
  2. Students must submit all requisite certificates within the time limit specified by the office; failure to do so may lead to cancellation of admission.
  3. Any false information furnished at the time of admission will result in immediate cancellation of admission.
  4. Transfer Certificate and other original documents once submitted will be retained by the college until the completion of the course.

Attendance

  1. A minimum of 75% attendance in each subject/course is compulsory to be eligible to appear for the University examinations, as per university norms.
  2. Condonation of shortage of attendance, wherever permitted, shall be granted only on valid medical or other grounds, supported by documentary proof, and subject to the university's condonation rules.
  3. Students must sign the attendance register personally; proxy attendance is strictly prohibited and will invite disciplinary action.
  4. Leave of absence for more than three consecutive working days must be intimated in writing to the class advisor/Head of the Department in advance, except in emergencies.

Dress Code & Identity Card

  1. Students must wear the prescribed college uniform/dress code on all working days, unless otherwise notified.
  2. The college Identity Card must be worn at all times within the campus and produced on demand by any member of the staff or security personnel.
  3. Loss of the Identity Card must be reported immediately to the office for issue of a duplicate.

General Discipline

  1. Students shall maintain discipline, decorum, and courtesy within the campus and while representing the college outside.
  2. Ragging in any form is strictly prohibited and is a punishable offence under law; any complaint will be dealt with as per the Anti-Ragging Regulations of the UGC.
  3. Use or possession of mobile phones in the classroom during teaching hours is prohibited unless permitted by the faculty for academic purposes.
  4. Smoking, consumption of alcohol, tobacco, or any intoxicating substance is strictly forbidden within the college premises.
  5. Damage to college property, furniture, laboratory equipment, or library material will attract cost recovery and disciplinary action.
  6. Students must maintain silence in the library, laboratories, examination halls, and administrative areas.
  7. Any act of indiscipline, misconduct, or misbehavior with staff, fellow students, or visitors will be dealt with seriously and may lead to suspension or dismissal.

Library Rules

  1. Students must produce their Identity Card to borrow books from the library.
  2. Books must be returned within the stipulated period; overdue books will attract a fine as prescribed by the library committee.
  3. Loss or damage of library books must be reported and compensated as per library norms.
  4. Silence must be strictly observed inside the library and reading room.

Examination Rules

  1. Students must carry their Hall Ticket and Identity Card to every examination without fail.
  2. Use of unfair means, malpractice, or possession of unauthorized material during examinations will lead to disciplinary action as per university regulations.
  3. Students are governed by the detailed Examination Rules and the Rules to be Complied with in the Examination Hall, available under the Examinations section of this website.

Safety, Conduct & Grievance Redressal

  1. The college maintains an Internal Complaints Committee/Sexual Harassment Electronic Box for redressal of grievances relating to safety and harassment; complaints may be lodged in confidence.
  2. Students are advised to immediately report any form of harassment, bullying, or unsafe situation to the Women's Grievance Cell or Principal's office.
  3. Visitors and outsiders are not permitted to meet students during class hours without prior permission from the office.

Students are advised to refer to the official Examination Rules and Regulations circular and university notifications for the most current and legally applicable provisions. In case of any conflict, the university/UGC regulations shall prevail.
